rabbit with upper respiratory infection

Question
Hi,

I have a young rabbit (8 mos, approx 5 lbs) who is being treated for upper respiratory infection, presumably pasteurella.  He is being treated with Baytril, and is showing improvement, but hasn't completely cleared it yet (now in day 24 of a 30 day treatment course).  So far he is tolerating the antibiotics well with no apparent disruption of gut flora.  Can you recommend any supplemental naturopatic or holistic remedies that might help boost his immune system?  I reeeeally don't want this to be a chronic infection requiring life-long drugs to keep it under control....

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Michelle

Answer
Dr. Yearout does homeopathic and holistic phone consultations on the small critters like rabbits. He is very nice. 425-334-8171 (west coast). This is the best treatment to prevent future problems.

While expensive, friends of mine with rabbits have had no upper respiratory problems this year (usually have 3-4 by now) since switching their water to an alkline/clustered kind using the Athena filter.  (www.ChristinaChambreau.com/products.htm)
