Question
Hello, i just read one of the old questions posed to you, which i've pasted below.  Our 5 month oldGolden Retreiver has these exact symptons.  His 3rd eyelid will basically close at any time, covering his eyes.  This can be at any time - on walk, playing, etc. He trys to open his eyes, but can't.  We have taken him to a few vets - one neurological expert - the assumption is that he may have a brain tumor, though without a very expensive MRI we won't know.  This problem went away about 48 hours after it started and haven't seen it since.  So who knows.  Thought your reader maybe able to find some help with this, even if its not very nice.  Did you find out any other info from the other person regarding their dog?  thanks.

Question
hello im kristina and i have a dog named sadie..she has been acting very strange...her eyes are small and when she opens up her eyes her eyelids roll to the top of her head...but shes not tired and doesn't want to sleep...it seems like she is forcing to open up her eyes..please help me.:( ps.she is a golden retreiver...shes not a small dog but i thought that this doesn't matter if its a big dog or small so please help thanx.

Answer
Hi Kristina,
I am really not quite sure what you mean that her eyelids roll to the top of her head?
And what do you mean by her eyes are small? Are they small most of the time or just now? If she is dehydrated her third eyelid will show over more of the eye and it will look as if her eyes are shrunken into her head.
IF that is the case then she needs to be seen to determine why she is dehydrated. You didn't tell me her age or her general health condition.

I don't know what else to tell you. You might want to call your vet tomorrow.

Answer
Dogs that have smaller eyes than normal will have problems keeping the third eyelid retracted when the eyes are open. A small surgery can be performed if it becomes an issue. A dog whose eyes are normal in size then has this problem is either dehydrated or is having some other problems, which may or may not be neurological.

Since I never heard back from her I am not really sure what the problem was or whether or not it was resolved.
