Greyhound in mourning

Question
Our little girl Lambie died Dec 10 - ReRun (her brother by adoption) has been eating but not wanting to do much... even after we got another little girl Cofax. She trys to get him to play and he might for a minute - then stops. Every time he hears her make a sound or run or bark - he looks likes he's worried about her. The first day she almost knocked over our fish tank - later that day - they were out doing thier thing when she ran in the house - I called ReRun and said hurry Coie ran upstairs - he never listens to me - yet this time - he ran as fast as he could inside and looked for her. It's like he's afraid he might lose her too - so he's afraid of getting close or her getting hurt. Any advise?
ReRun will be 10 in April, Lambie was 8.5 and Coie will be 4 in March - all Greyhounds.

Answer
Hi Tina!  This behavior is not uncommon.  Like people, animals mourn their losses too, and ReRun is simply feeling the loss of Lambie.  He will adjust to Cofax soon.  It will just take some time.
I'm so sorry for your loss.  I know how difficult it is to lose a beloved "furbaby".  My heart goes out to you and your family.  Cofax will help the mourning process, as I'm sure that little girl is causing many smiles in your home!
Please give ReRun and Cofax tons of kisses for me!
Take care,
Hilary
