Question
My daughters cat has had 3 live kittens and 2 sacs with nothing attached, these came out in between the two live births. This is her second litter. It feels as if there is another inside. Its been 45 mins since the last live birth.  Do we need to take her to the vet? What do you recommend, the vet said she should be exrayed, of course the cost is 300.00 and the kids arent wealthy though will do what they have too as they love there cat...  Thanks for your help

Answer
Hello!
Congratulations on your new babies! :-)  No, you should wait at least for 24 hours from the start of the birth. Sometimes it may last for 24 hours, and you may get other babies during this time with real far intervals. If you disturb your cat and move her somewhere, for example the vet, all the procedures and x-raying etc will make her stressed out and it will lead her body to produce hormones which will stop the birth process and some kittens may be left inside. So wait for a total of 24 hours without disturbing her. Unless you see something very abnormal about her general state of health of course. These empty sacs are normal, one sac should come out after every kitten. Other sacs and kittens may still come out. Let me know how it goes tomorrow.
