Question

Basil Allergies Can you tell me how reliable skin testing is in determining allergies? One of my frenchies keeps breaking out in numerous pustules, especially in his groin area. He is raw fed and spends very little time outdoors, only to relieve himself. I tried him on Atopica, but he was vomitting. I have been managing his eyes and ears with Benadryl. Thank you in advance for your assistance

Skin testing is very reliable for those antigens that are tested for. That means that if allergy testing is done for 25 antigens, it could be the 26th antigen that is not tested for that the dog is really allergic to. There are also food allergies and contact allergies that the test will not reveal.
