trouble with my lactating bichon frise

Hello.  My bichon had puppies 2 weeks ago today.  She had vomited 3 times earlier today and her belly is hot.  I noticed that around one of her nipples is very swollen.  It is one of the nipples over her rids, and the swelling is going up toward her armpit area.  Could it be milk fever?  If so what can I do?  She seems so sad and is not herself this evening; she is being very quiet.  Can you help me?

My sincere apologies for the delay.  I have been dealing with some health issues and fallen terribly behind.

With the amount of swelling that you describe and the behavioral changes I would recommend bringing her to your veterinarian.  It is possible that she has a mammary infection and if so would need treatment to control the infection and supportive care for the vomiting and fever.
