Question
QUESTION: Hi Marie! I have a 7yr old Australian Cattle Dog female. She has an irritated rear end :( driving her (and me) crazy. When I look there all i see is that she has irritated the skin around her butt and it is red. Now I believe this has something to do with the anal glands in this breed? Correct me if I am wrong :)  Is this something I can take care of at home or does she need the vet. I somewhat remember taking her years ago for the same thing but not quite sure what they did. Thanks for you time.

ANSWER: Hi Ashley - Yes, she may have an anal gland infection:  If it is very red and feels hot, then it is infected.  She will need to get an antibiotic.

If you want to try some natural supplements here is the RX for this problem.

Answer
Hi Again: Thanks for the video... He did a good job explaining how to do this.  I wouldn't do this unless you feel that there is liquid leakage from her anal sac area.  Most dogs do express the anal glands on their own.  Only small dogs need to have them express by a vet or groomer.

I would go with good nutrition - food and supplements to control her problems... Also, the nuvet plus will help her if she has any allergies.
Sometimes allergies upset the anal glands.

Anyway, the products that I referred to are 100% guaranteed or they will refund your money.
No risk with my referrals...

BEST wishes and Let me know what you do...

Marie
