Radial Nerve Paralysis in a cat

Question
My 11 year old cat suddenly (like when she woke up from sleeping all afternoon and evening) woke up and her right front paw was completely limp, dragging flat on the floor and the flacidity extending into his shoulder.  I immediately took him to night emergency vet clinic.  they diagnosed a "radial nerve paralysis"

When I asked the cause I was told it could be a radial nerve damaged, damage to the spine, swelling in the spine from arthritis or a tumor or many other reasons.  They said it could be temporary or permenent.

They gave him a dose of cortisone.  He is no better and is in hiding in hose trying to avaoid people.  Is there anything I can do to alleviate the suffering, help him to heal and find out the exact cause of this illness?

This is my daughter's beloved pat and she has been hysterical since her baby got sick.  Please give advise,
Thanks

Answer
You could consult a veterinary acupuncturist or chiropractor.

Consider having x-rays taken to see if there is a tumor or problem with the spine.

I would recommend more than just a dose of cortisone.  In these cases several doses of steroids are usually required as well as a tincture of time.

You can also massage the leg to keep blood circulating and try giving homeopathic remedy ARNICA for trauma and HYPERICUM for nerve damage.
