Question
If you can not answer this question please reder me to another espert pls.

My puppy is a maltese. she got pregnant on my wife's willingess to pay a stud... the baby was backwards inside her per our vet.

I guess from what I'm told Yume( our cute puppy) did somthing dumb and jumped from a high spot which killed the baby.

we took her to the vet when we noticed black substence when she urinated. the vet told us the baby was dead and that he had to operate to take the baby out. all is ok we are ok with her being fixed and no baby if that is what has to be done.

our pup almost died on the table. she been through 3 cuttings so far because she is " allergic to the stitching" it won't heal.

have you heard of this?
we love our puppy so much and she supose to go in for her 4th surgery soon im so scared she is so heart broken everytime she comes out like we did somthing wrong to make her get cut.

any way all info is appreciated

Answer
Yes animals can have reaction to suture material.  Most times a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories will settle down things.  If she is repeatedly allergic to the stitches, then she should have STAINLESS STEEL wire instead of synthetic or absorbable stitches.

And pets can have reactions to anesthesia as well.  I would be hestitant about jumping right back in to surgery.  I would advise that the vet just MASKS her down with Isoflurane instead of using injectable drugs since she is so sensitive.

What you might want to ask your vet is to do a culture of the incision as it is likely that there is a super-bacteria causing her incision not to heal--then she can be placed on the appropriate antibiotics.

I would also recommend CALENDULA ointment be applied to the incision and see if you can get TRAUMEEL to give her orally to help her heal.
