Trained dog pooping in the house

We have an 22 month old Chihuahua who has been house trained forever and we have never had any problems.  Over the past few weeks.  He is pooping just anywhere in the house and not on his paper where he normally goes.  He will even squat down right in front of us and go.

Why is this happening and what should we do?

Answer
It may be attention seeking behavior or underlying anxiety.  Try DAP/COmfort Zone Difusers in the house as well as adding Rescue Remedy to his water dish.

To make sure there is not a medical problem, I would make sure to take a stool sample for analysis and take him to the vet for an exam.
