Question
I recently starting working nights.  When I come home in the morning I
usually fry a couple of eggs for my breakfast.  My Chihuahua, named Seri,
was interested so I started preparing a fried egg for her probably 3 to 4
times a week.  Around 3pm she gets fed her daily 1/3 cup of adult pedgree
(small bits). Seri is 10 years old.  Will feeding her eggs cause her harm?
Also occasionally I'll eat a hand full of whole almonds.  Once I dropped
one on the floor and Seri swooped it up.  So now I'll give her one or two
almonds when I eat the occasional handful. Are Almonds harmful to Seri?

Answer
Hi there!  Eggs are wonderful for a dog's skin and coat.  Be sure not to use oil or butter (as these are fattening) and no salt and pepper.  Just a plain egg.  No harm will be done with this.  I feed my shih tzu eggs on weekly basis (every Sunday)and have and will for his whole life.
Almonds can be a concern.  Some nuts can be toxic to dogs. Hind end paralysis can occur, as can anemia from certain nuts.  Almonds are not commonly on this list, but to be safe, I would eliminate them and every nut from Seri's diet.
I hope this is helpful and please give Seri some kisses for me!
