Cat with cut on front leg

Question
The cut
The cut
Hi, this morning I noticed that my cat has a clean cut on the front of his front right leg (I think it was done on a sharp kitchen utensil that was out because we are in the process of moving). The cut seems to go almost to the bone (I think I can see it behind some sort of translucent membrane), and it isn't bleeding much. The cut is about 1cm long. It is easter so I don't think a vet will be open until Tuesday (I'm in the UK).  I have trimmed the fur around and carefully cleaned the wound, but he won't keep any kind of bandage on it. I've attacthed a photo. What do you think we should do for now, and will he need stitches?

Answer
The big concern here is infection of course. Some would just superglue the skin together but it really should have a few sutures in it. That's a pretty long cut. You are seeing the muscle sheath under the skin most likely, not the bone.

Keep it clean then get him to the vets on Tuesday if there isn't one open tomorrow. He needs some antibiotics as well.

Cats don't like any kind of bandages, which is why they need sutures.
