my bostons tail

Question
I gave my boston terrier a flea bath and cleaned her tail area really good. The next day under the tail it was red and had some white stuff there. I was wondering did I do this to her by scrubing under her tail and what can I do to fix this. It seems to be bothering her.

Answer
Under the tail is a very sensitive area so you probably just made it sore. The best thing you can do is rub some neosporin on it for a few days to help with the inflammation and to settle it down. I don't know what you mean by 'white stuff'.

Is she licking it now? You could also use some cornstarch (the kind you cook with) and powder the area. That cools it off and helps with the rawness too.

Instead of giving her flea baths, which only work while the dog is wet, get her on Sentinel for her heartworm prevention and flea control. It has a hormone in it that only affects fleas but not the dog. I have used it for over 10 years and none of my indoor-outdoor animals have a flea on them. So I know it works.

That way you are doing two good things for her at once. Then you can bathe her once a month for grooming and use a gentle shampoo for dogs, but you don't have to worry about fleas anymore.

Let me know if any of that helps her.
