Question
She weighs 56lbs. and is 14 years old mix of lab and chessapeak bay retriever, 10 days ago she started throwing up and stopped eating, she also started drinking alot of water and urinating often. I took her to vet and they found slight UTI and gave her baytril, 2 days after she had a five minute long violent dreadful convulsion. After 7 x rays and various blood and urine tests where white blood cells were found elevated, the medication was changed to amoxicilin and a motion sickness med.  Do you think its this piece of metal in her stomache that is causing her symptoms?? Please help me find a way to help my dog return to good health, thank you in advance. as far as food i have been feeding her rice and chicken that i cook for her she eats it if i insist, lethargic and melancholic...i am afraid to give her the new meds!!!

Answer
Wait a minute- you are telling me this dog has a piece of metal in her stomach and the vet is giving her antibiotics for it? Why hasn't he removed it? What kind of metal is it and how long has it been in there?

I would think that what ever this is is causing her problems big time. She is sick because she has a piece of metal in her stomach!!

I just don't know what to say- why hasn't this been removed? You are not going to have a well dog unless she has surgery to remove this. Feeding her chicken and rice is not a balanced diet but that is the least of your worries at the moment.

And why would he now give her meclazine? Is she falling, having dizzy spells? Or is she circling?
I can't be of much good until I get more answers.
