Weird doberman behavior

Question
Hi, I have an 8-year-old Doberman girl.  She is healthy and still acts like a puppy - lots of play and mischief.  She is of average height and weight, and did have some thyroid problems at some point, but we give her meds prescribed by a veterinarian.  Well, today was the second time in the past month (and third time ever) that I noticed some weird behavior.  I sometimes would let her outside and she stands by the glass door watching in waiting to be let in.  Well, three times I noticed her doing some weird dance.  It looks like she is running but in the same spot.  Her legs (all four) go in different directions and look like noodles (boneless)... This behavior lasts anywhere from 5 seconds to 30 seconds.  It is hilarious to watch, but I am concerned with any health implications.  She does not fall or anything, but simply "dances" in one spot.  It's like watching a dog running on a treadmill, but without the actual treadmill there... Does it make sense?  It is hard to describe - so bizarre!!!  Thank you for your help!

It sounds as though your dog may be experiencing a mild seizure.  Have her evaluated by a veterinarian; often bloodwork can reveal answers that may help to explain why your pet is dancing in place.
