Question
QUESTION: okay, so my cat has lost a lot of weight, and won't eat or drink, and when he breathes, he has a hard time, and he has to breath in and out through his mouth.
please as soon as possible reply.

ANSWER: This cat needs to see a veterinarian right away! Cats do NOT like to breathe through their mouth so when they do that is a sign of major distress. When I say distress, I am talking about the kind that means this cat could be very ill-even dying. Cat's don't lose a lot of weight overnight. When they don't eat or drink that means something is terribly wrong. He could have a urinary blockage which is fatal if he is not treated. You need to call a vet tonight!! I cannot emphasize this enough.
Please go call one now.

QUESTION: are you sure it a Bladder Infection and not heart worms???

Answer
I didn't say it was a bladder infection. Male cats can plug up because their urethra is so narrow. They get 'crystals' in their urine from eating food that isn't good for them (garbage store bought cat food) and then it plugs the urethra in the penis and they can't urinate.

If he is still alive then he probably doesn't have that but he could have leukemia, or kidney disease or any number of illnesses. Any ANIMAL that isn't eating or drinking is going to die if not seen by a vet soon.
He may not be able to help him at this point but at least get him into a vet and try to see what is wrong!
Heartworms in cats isn't like it is in dogs. They don't get the same symptoms. Unfortunately most people don't even know their cat has heartworms until they drop dead- that is the most common symptom!
But they don't get thin and stop eating for days before hand. They look perfectly fine one minute and are dead the next.
Please get this cat to a vet's right away!! He is suffering terribly.
