Question
I HAVE A 12 YR OLD LAB WHO HAS BEEN IN GOOD HEALTH, HOWEVER, SHE RECENTLY STARTED SNORING WHEN SHE IS ASLEEP AND WHEN SHE IS LAYING AND AWAKE SHE MAKES A SNORING SOUND LIKE NASAL CONGESTION..I GAVE HER BENADRYL A FEW TIME BUT SEE NO IMPROVEMENT...WHAT ELSE COULD THIS BE?

Answer
Hi Susie!  I would take your dog to your veterinarian for a physical examination to be sure there is no infection in the upper respiratory tract present and to be sure that there is nothing in the nasal passages.  A lot of the time, older dogs will grunt and snore.  It's a sign of aging, and not necessarily a sign of illness, although there are some illnesses that can cause this sort of behavior.
I hope this has been helpful,
Hilary
