Raised dog dishes

Question
I serve my Large Munsterlanders food from dog dishes that are raised up and not directly on the floor.  They seem fine with this but I've heard that dogs should not eat from raised dishes as it interferes with their natural digestion, etc.  Is putting dog dishes on floor better?

Answer
Raising the food off of the floor is generally good for most dogs. It keeps them from eating too fast and thus risking bloat or a turned stomach. There is no reason why an elevated dish would interfere with their digestion.

It most likely improves it as the dog usually chews the food more or at least eats slower thus giving it more time to mix with saliva which aids in digestion.

Many large dog breeds have to eat elevated. While your dogs are not large in that sense, it is still a good way to feed them. Do you hunt your dogs? I am very interested in this breed as a pet.
