blood spots

Question
My cat is 6 years old. The last couple of days we have found little spots of blood on the counter. They are about the size of the tip of a pencil. It is like a spray of little red dots on the counter. She has had the same food and litter her whole life. She does not get human food or treats. I haven't actually SEEN her doing anything. I am not sure what end it is coming from. She is a white cat and I cannot find any blood or sores on her. I got her fixed when she was a kitten. Could she be in heat? Please help me.

Answer
She can't be in heat if she was spayed as a kitten. Could she have eaten a mouse on your counter? She could have sneezed bloody droplets. What is sounds like, however, is flea dirt that got wet.

Flea dirt is actually digested blood so when it gets damp it turns red like blood. They are the size of the tip of a pencil.

You need to look her over for fleas then attack the source vigorously. The worst part of  flea problem is not the adult fleas but the eggs, larvae and cocoons.

This page will tell you all about the flea cycle. Then explore the ways on there that you can rid your house and cat of them.

And yes, indoor only cats can and do get fleas.

That would be my guess as to what they are. I have heard this story many a time~!
Let me know what you find.
