Blood Stool

Question
We just got a male dog a few months ago. He started having a stool that looked like his insides were comming out. We gave him boiled milk for a few days and it cleared up. Well he started having it again last week. We are doing the same with the mike & seems to be back to normal. My question is, what would be causing this problem?
Thank You,
 Beth

Answer
You should definitely have his stool checked for intestinal parasites and I would recommend a complete physical examination.

The bloody stool could be due to parasites, food allergy, inflammation in the colon from inflammatory bowel disease, stress or a rectal tumor.
