Cat leasion question

Question
2 years ago, my wife and I adopted 2 ferrel cats. Both female cat's are spayed and tested negative for  feline aids, leukimia, rabies, etc. For the most part, they are both happy, healthy and playful.
One of the cat's (Puffer) has had a leasion on her tail approx 3-4 inches away from her rear end. The vet's we've taken her to are all puzzeled. We clean the wound every other day with Hydrogen Peroxide, but it still seeps and doesn't heal. Any thoughts or suggestions? We really love her! She is such a beauty!

Thank you very much

Answer
Stop using the hydrogen peroxide to clean it.....it is too harsh and can inhibit healing and actually kill tissue with repeated use.

I would suggest applying neosporin to it daily and only cleaning with mild soap and water when it looks very dirty.  I am sure the cat is licking it which is not helping the healing so she may need to either have the tail wrapped or put an e-collar on her.

I have had success with a product called COLLASATE, which is a collagen compound that really helps to heal wounds.  I would highly recommend that you try applying that.

If it doesn't heal, then she may need to have her tail amputated as the open wound will be a chronic source of infection, which is not healthy for her.
