DOES MY CAT HAVE A BREATHING PROBLEM?

18 15:44:17

Question
I just had my 3 yr old cat spayed 2 weeks ago. She came through the procedure  just fine. Now, I've noticed that when I play with her (and she gets excited ) she makes heavy sniffing sounds and nose movements like a rabbit. It ends when the playing stops. Does she have a breathing problem?

Answer
I can not diagnose her over the internet.  Breathing problems are usually noted by open mouth breathing, panting, heavy breathing, noisey breathing or difficulty breathing.  Breathing problems can also indicate heart problems.

Your best bet is to contact your vet who spayed her and have him or her examine her to be safe.  S/he can listen to the lungs to rule out any fluid or abnormal sounds such as asthma as well as listen to the heart for a murmur and get the heart rate.
