Pet Baby Rat.

Question
I just got two young siamese coated rats at the local owned pet store. They both seem to have healthy coats, and so far no signs of illness, BUT the male rat seems to have a lump right on top of his head. I've googled for what seems to be FOREVER, but i feel like I'm not really getting a for sure answer. I'm also going to search out the area for a vet who can do rat care.
The Lump:
- I tried to see if it was skin level or not, I think it is skin level but not really sure.
- The skin underneath seems to be pink like the rest.
- It seems to be hard, and not soft at all.

It seems like a dangerous spot on his head, but I need a good idea! Please help if can.

Thanks,
Alexa

Answer
Hi Alexa,
It would be pretty hard for me to even guess what this lump might be. Your best bet is to get him in to a vet and have it looked at. He can stick a needle in it and see what is in it. It could be a cyst on the hairline or a little fatty tumor.
I don't understand why you think it's a dangerous spot on his head either. Could it be his skull is just more prominent than the other rats?

You should just take him in to the vets when you can.
