Question
Can a ferret contract feline herpes from a cat who once had feline herpes?

Answer
I suppose it is always possible. Cats don't generally ever get rid of herpes but they do go into remission. Since ferrets are capable of getting feline diseases I would be safer then sorry and keep them away from each other.

Ferrets are part of the skunk, mink and weasel family. You might want to look up what these animals are susceptible to and that will tell you what ferrets are able to contract also.

We don't treat ferrets in California as they are illegal so we don't see them often.
