Ginea Pig Teeth

Question
My ginea pig has lost his incisors.  I looked and there seems to be hard nubs (new teeth perhaps?) where his incisors were.  He is very healthy and will readily eat soft things.
I read that others have had the same problem with their ginea pigs but can't get and answer or advice.

Is my ginea pig getting his adult teeth?

Answer
Hi there!  Guinea pigs do lose their teeth more than once in their lifetime, as they have more than one set of adult teeth, so you may be seeing this more than once with your piggie.  New teeth will definately be on their way, and it seems as though those hard nubs are the beginning of new teeth. Within a week or two, the new teeth should be completely grown in.  During this time, keeping guinea pig chew toys in his cage will help him through the teething process.  Still give him access to his regular staple food, but also give him some softer foods in which he will be able to comfortably eat and enjoy.
I hope this answers your question, and if you have any others, please feel free to ask!
