Diamond Doves - Oils

Hi, I just got two diamond doves, boy and a girl, a week ago, that I keep in my bed oom.  I am a big incense burner in this room, but I stopped that because I heard these scented things are bad for the doves.  However, I also wear one or two drops of just straight up un-diluted patchouli oil on my wrists.  Is this unhealthy for my doves, especially if I am holding them on my arm a lot?  should I make changes?

There are differing opinions about the use of essential oils or perfumes around birds. Some say never, some say to watch the birds.
