parvo virus

My Chihuahua puppy is on the second day showing parvo symptoms. do you think its possible that he might survive for the next two days if i keep him hydrated until i can get him to a vet.

If you can get enough pedialyte down him.It's pretty hard to keep a puppy hydrated without using IVs, that is the problem. Plus the secondary bacterial infections that they can get in their guts and intestines while the intestines are being sloughed off the way parvo does to them.

It's a gamble that is for sure. The loser is your puppy dying. I can never say yes to a situation like this knowing how devastating this virus can be. Has this puppy had any vaccinations at all? If he has, he has a better chance of surviving, but that is not even a guarantee.

So it's your call. I am sure you can find a vet open tomorrow or call an after hour service and ask if they can meet you during the day at the office.
