Question
Hi I have a female weenie dog shes nearly 7 now and about 3 weeks ago I took her for her shots. About 6 days latter i was shocked to see a large mass on her back i felt it and it was hard she didnt mind me touching it I called the vet early the next morning he said it wasnt an emergency just to keep an eye on her she acts fine but she has a bulge in her back again i called abot 5 days latter and pushed for an apoitment for him to see her. upone his examnation i mentchened her receving shots right before this large bulge ocured he than stated indeed it was from the shot and that these things acure it will go away no problme i pleaded for a test to rule out a tumer but he said no. ok so over a month now still visably noticable not shrinking i tried to get her to another vet and as soon as I told them why i wanted to bring her in they all sundly didnt have apoitments for months to come. Look I take care of my mom full time she is quite ill Our dog LuLu is honestly one of the main reasons my mom doesnt give up she fights to live to be with lulu . we love her more than some of our faimly members is this whole shot thing a posablity as far as theroy or could there be a serios problme and having not gotten it proper diogness lead to fatal consquences? What do i do please help sorry for my spelling im dislexic.
thanks
teresa

Answer
Hi there.

how big was the lump? a size of a quarter? tennis ball? etc..
there are some cases of an abcsess occuring at the vaccine site as well as vaccine induced tumors, but more common is a localized swelling that can last several weeks.

keep pressing to have your dog seen, if need be go out of town.

good luck!
