docked tail

hello ellen.
i got a 2 and a half month old rat terrier.
he's tail was docked already when i got him and it seems like maybe it's growing back?? my puppy's trying to bite his tail like crazy and i don't think he's doing that for fun. tip of his tail looks a little bit weird, too. i was wondering if he can go through the surgery at this age and approximately how much it would cost me.

get it looked at asap!  once they start messing with a docked tail is usually a sign of infection-especially if you say the tip is weird. The docking may have not been done correctly at the joint of the bone and he may have a shard sticking out.


he can go through surgery to correct this. and i have not idea on the cost.
