Thorn in Cats Paw

Question
Is there any way I can get a thorn out of my cats pad on his front foot.  I took tweezers and only got the top of the thorn and now there is nothing to really grab onto to get it out.  Any help and if so how could I numb it also.  Thanks so much

Answer
It's pretty rare to see a cat with a thorn in a pad.I have no clue what you can numb it with. For dogs we recommend you soak the foot in warm water with some Epson salt. I really doubt if your cat will let you do that.

Otherwise you will need to have a vet look at it. Digging into his pad will cause infection and then you will really have a mess.

Most thorns/stickers etc will form a capsule and get squeezed out by the body in a few days on its own. If you don't have a vet look at it that is what might happen. They are usually infected by then however.

So try the soak first.
