cat not using back legs

Question
My five month old cat has recently stopped using his back right leg.  It seems to hurt him.  He has stopped walking altogether.  He won't get off his bed all day.  He's been inside so I know nothing too bad could have happened.  It's been 2 days and he doesn't seem to be getting too much better.

Answer
Unfortunately lethargy and inappetance can be found in many conditions affecting cats from heart conditions, neurological problems, physical trauma, heartworm, viruses and other metabolic diseases.  A day or two of being ill can be due to a short virus (kind of like when we catch the flu), but if he/she is still ad you described I would recommend going to your veterinarian.  A full examination should be done.

Best of luck to you and your feline friend.
