Puppy licking

Hi there,

I have a 3/4 week old puppy (great health) who licks a lot, like a dog would when they are swallowing/cleaning after eating.

I am wondering if this is due to thirst, or just something puppies of this age do?

This puppy isn't even a week old? This question is confusing because the age of this puppy is confusing. It this puppy isn't even a week old, then it's not licking but making suckling motions with its mouth.

It probably needs to be fed more often. A puppy this young should be on the bitch but if you are bottle feeding it then it needs to be fed 4 times a day and at least twice at night- round the clock.

The amount depends on the size of the puppy, breed etc.
