eyes

I have a lab/great Dane mix.  His eyes have been crusty with a slight yellow discharge. Also now the skin around the eye seems to be swollen and losing hair.  No squinting or rubbing has been noticed. Any help is appreciated.8

HI Nancy,
I always tell everyone that any pet with an eye issue needs to see the vet. Eyes are pretty important and you don't want to wait it out with them. Discharges can be anything from a foreign body to lacrimal ducts not working to dry eye. the swelling and losing hair is usually from the discharge being irritating to the skin. Another good reason to have the vet look at them right away.
