Skin Allegies with White Boxers

Question
I hope you can tell me what to do.  We have a 14 year old white boxer. Beautiful, baby girl that we just adore. She has had Skin Allgegies for approx. 8 years now.  She is on Primor and Antibotics but she is now becoming very grumpy, smells bad even after baths with special shampoo just for skin conditions from the vet.  She get the infection from her sores and now has lost the majority of the fur on her back. He paws are so bad they start bleeding. I know I need to take her back to the vet but I'm afriad they will just give her more and more drugs.  I've tried everything from Z/D food to home cooked and pet Vitamins.  I'm afraid it's time to put her down.  What do you think?

Answer
It's amazing you have a 14 yr old boxer at all! They have a hard time making it to that age at all and white ones especially since they are so prone to getting skin cancers.

Allergies like hers as you know, are usually inhalant, not topical.
My question is have you ever had her rast tested and have you ever given her allergy injections?
We did that for years with dogs and had very good results. Some dogs don't do well because there are so many allergens and it became overwhelming.

She might be experiencing something other than atopic allergies at this point and it could be that she is now suffering from a breakdown of her skin from seborrhea or a massive yeast infection (systemic candida comes to mind) which are not treated the same ways.

If is yeast or bacterial needs to be differentiated and then treated accordingly.

I would take her back for that reason and maybe some bloodwork to check her kidneys and liver at this point. Then maybe you can make a decision based on that. She is obviously not going to feel well with bleeding feet and itching all over.

So that is my recommendation at this point.
Please let me know what you decide and how it turns out.
