Hair loss on min pin ears and head

Question
We have a 8 yrar old min pin that has started to lose its hair on its ear and is losing it on the top of his head. We had him on thyroid pills and have had him tested for a fungual problems, and the thyroid has checked out fine and both have come back negative. We have taken him to 3 vets and none can figure out whats wrong. If anyone has any info or ideas we would really appreciate it Thanks again and please e mail us at MSP@BLAST.NET

There are several reasons for hair loss and without a skin biopsy to actually see why the hair is coming out, it is difficult for me to diagnose on the internet.  Many times there are some vitamins that may be lacking in the diet and sometimes there is a problem with a vasculitis that cuts off the  blood to the hair folicles.  You can try a good canine vitamin supplement until your vet decides to do a biopsy.
