Starving

My dog is 14 years old and we took her to the vet to get checked out and they told us she more than likely has a liver problem and she wasnt going to live very much longer.  She has stopped eating and my question is how long does it take before my dog will starve to death and how can we tell if she is in pain?  She hasnt been active the last two years so laying around all day is nothing different.  She is a mixed breed, some Black lab, collie, short hair retriever, and some other things if that makes any difference.

did they do bloodwork? did they do xrays? did they do an ultrasound?  or did they just feel her belly and give you a diagnosis?  if they did, get another opinion.


your dog should not be in pain, and if you vet and YOU feel she is uncomfortable, then you should either be treating the pain with a veterinary rx drug OR consider humane euthanasia.

starving to death is cruel and painful.
