Dog bowel obstruction

My Beagle recently had disc surgery for a rupture, however,
she is not having bowel movements and I am concerned
that much of the pain she is experiencing is caused by an
obstruction.  What types of natural products can I use to
help her with loosening her bowels?

Answer
You can mix mineral oil in her food.  However, I would recommend consulting the surgeon as bowel retention could be a neurological sign that something is wrong from surgery and s/he may have specific instructions for you in regards to getting her to go.
