Question
Good morning,
I just came home to find some of my pets stool.  The first one I found was normal to me, black and small in size.  The second I picked up seemed to have a long curled up worm.  How can this happen?  And is there an easy solution, store bought or should we take her to the vet?  Could this be fatal?  Other than that she's a very normal puppy.

Thank You,
Leah Rocha

Answer
Hi Leah!  No need to worry!  All puppies are born with worms, intestinal parasites.  You can simply take a stool sample into your veterinarian's office and have them perform a fecal test.  This will decifer which kind of worm is present, as their are many different species.  Medication will be prescribed accordingly.  Within a few days, your puppy will be worm free!
You do, however want to act on this promptly, as intestinal parasites reproduce very quickly, and if left untreated, could be fatal.  As long as you get that medication in him, he will be absolutely fine.
I hope this helps and give that little baby kisses for me!
My mom just brought a baby chihuahua into her home too!  Boy, aren't they just the cutest?
Take care!
