Dog eating feces

Question
My 17-year old toy poodle has started eating her own feces.  She has never done this before, in fact,quite the opposite,she avoided it.  What is the problem?  THANKS

Most likely it is due to an underlying medical problem at her age...anemia, not absorbing her nutrients properly, ravenous appetite due to diabetes or cushing's disease, senility....best bet is to take her to the vet for a check up, a stool sample and some blood tests.
