my Dachsund

Hi Hilary,
Maybe you can help me! My 7 year old Dachsund is taking quick short breaths. It started in the middle of the night and it is now 7:30 am.  His tail is still wagging like crazy and he still has his usual voracious appetite.  I should let you know that he chews everything in sight.  He kept sneaking a particular rubber toy yesterday afternoon. Oh, and I accidently stepped on him last night.

Hi Georgia.  This type of breathing is a bit concerning and I would suggest a veterinarian visit ASAP.  There could be something stuck in the back of his throat that is constricting the airway and this will need to be addressed as soon as possible.  
Do you know what part of his body you had accidently stepped on last night?  There may be a broken rib that is putting pressure on his chest, causing the labored breathing.
Please let me know what is found, and give him kisses for me.
