droped tail

Question
What could cause a dropped tail in a small mixed breed terrier?  He is 5 years old, up-to-date on shot and in good health.  Does not seem to be in discomfort and his daily life seems to be the same...(running, eating, bowel movement, etc.)

Answer
Typically an injury or strain to the lower back will cause this. Some dogs break their tail (it's the end of their spine) and can't lift or wag it due to that. Sometimes it's a nerve problem and sometimes it's muscular in the back.

You need to have the vet look at it and see if it's broken or if he has a back problem. If he can't or won't wag it,lift it or move it, there is something wrong that needs vet care.
