Question
I have 14 yr old springer spaniel who has very foul odor has had major weight loss and increased vomiting local vet suggested possible cancer he has now exhibited increase fatigue and his nose is very dry. But he doesn't give any indications of pain. Could it be something other than the big c

Answer
Probably not. Foul odors are very common with older dogs that get cancer. Their kidneys fail, so they get toxic, and what you are probably smelling is the azotemia that is basically blood poisoning from his kidneys failing.

They kindest thing to do at this point is to gently let him go and have him put down. It's a much more kind and gentle way to slip out of this life for him. Right now he is suffering, even if he is beyond feeling pain.

Don't wait too long.
