Anal gland in yorkshire terriors

My 7 yr. old yorkie does not self express her anal glands.  The vet told me I could do this myself.  I tried with no success, can you advise on how this is done effectively.  Her gland are full all the time, and it appears bothersome to her.  Thank you

Hi Marie :  You can go to the groomer for just a bath and anal glads, if you don't want to do this yourself.
