pain medication for small dogs

Question
I have a 2 year old pomeranian who weighs only 5lbs. She was born with her
knee caps out of socket. Being born with this, it doesn't pain her the way it
normally would. Somedays though, she exerts herself a little bit too much,
(climbing things she is too small for, jumping down from things, running too
much etc.) and you can tell she will be a little sore the next day. (She will be a
bit stiff on her back legs, she won't be very active etc.) I know she isn't in a
huge amount of pain, just discomforted / sore and my question is when this
happens, is there anything over the counter I can give her to ease the
discomfort? I have seen that people sometimes give pets children's asprin etc
but for a dog of her size I would like advice on dosage or if it is even an

Hi Jodi - A baby asparin 81 mg is fine for a larger dog to take for pain.  It does rip up the belly over the long haul... I would not refer you to this because she is so small and it will be tough on her stomach.
