Cat puking

Question
Hi,

I have 3 healthy cats. All have short hair. They eat purina indoor cat formula.their food is in a feeder that is never empty.
They are all thin (normal)and don't seem to overeat.
However ,one of them seems to regurgitate frequently.

I read the difference between vomiting and regurgitating. And this is not vomiting from the stomach,
it is whole cat food ,mixed with liquid.

He has vomited some hairballs in the past. But not recently.

I am wondering if it is the food, the buffet style feeding?

Any ides?

                  Thanks! Lena

Answer
Well it could be that this cat doesn't do well with Purina food and it could be many things. This isn't as unusual as it seems in cats. Some cats regurge to eat more food or because they feel they are competing for food also.
They eat too fast and that causes the regurge.

One thing you might do is feed this cat separately when you get home some canned food that is elevated a little bit off the floor.
That will help sometimes with slowing them down when they eat.
I had my aunt change her cat's food to Science Diet sensitive stomach and her cat stopped regurging her food.
She has had her on it since and is very happy with it.

If this continues then you need to take him in for a workup as the causes of regurge can be mechanical like a megaesophogus or a stricture in the throat or even further down the digestive tract.

I hope this helps some. Let me know what you do and how it goes.
