Dog - heart disease

Question
"Hi!
Our 4-month old puppy (very small breed)has been diagnosed with an inherited heart disease called "Pulmonic Stenosis". The vet suggests surgery using the "Balloon Valvuloplasty" technique. Have you heard of any experiences with this surgery - if dogs survived this surgery and how they felt afterwards - how risky is the surgery and which life expectancy would the dog have with/without the surgery. I would not care how much it costs (I know it's expensive) if it would help the puppy to live an almost normal life - but I'm not sure about the risks. Thank you very much in helping us making a decision for surgery or against it. All the tests like x-ray, EKG and doubler echocardiography have been made.

Answer
If your vet has not suggested a trip to the veterinary cardiologist or he does not have a cardiology specialty, I would not allow them to perform the surgery. Only have a specialist do it.

Plus that gives you a second opinion via the cardiologist.
