yorkie in heat

yes i have a little yorkie and she has been on her period for about two weeks or so and her vagina is very swollen and is about 3/4 slightly black. we thought it might be from the swelling but we want to make sure?????  also she is almost a year old and she is a yorkie/ Pomeranian mix. she weighs maybe 3lbs.

This is probably just her natural pigmentation that is more prominent with the swelling. As soon as the swelling goes down you can take her in and get her spayed. Any more heats will cause her chances of getting breast cancer later on to get higher and higher.

Make the appointment now for two weeks and she will be ready then.
