Older Cat

Question
We have had a cat for 19 years (she wasn't a kitten when we got her).  In the last few months, she has lost a lot of weight and no longer eats dry food.  She only seems to lick the gravy off the wet pate food.  She does not seem to be in any pain.  Is there a liquid food that we could try?
Thanks

Answer
Have you had her looked over by a vet? She is in pain somewhere- her mouth or her teeth if she isn't eating properly.
Older cats do lose weight but if they cannot keep up with proper nutrition (gravy off a plate is not enough) then she will die from malnutrition.
She needs a vet check up then you can get her some special food for cats that are ultra thin or a gel that can be added or fed directly to her to help her out (nutracal).

But it has to start with a vet exam. The vet carries wet foods that can be fed to her after he figures out if she is having mouth or teeth issues or if she has a tumor inside somewhere.

Please call the vet soon.
