My dog bit my husband

Question
This morning, my 11 year old chocolate lab bit my husband on the nose.  Their routine was as usual. Him getting ready for work and Spencer on the bed with me.  Larry talked to and petted our dog then went back to put his face in Spencers face to talk to him like he always does, then it happened.  Spencer bit him.  We were shocked!
What do I do?  my vet is closed today. Any advise?
Spencer hasn't been vaccinated in a couple of years.  Last time I took him to the vet was 2 months ago for a leg injury.  I am very upset!  Thankyou, Angela

Answer
Hi Angela.

first off your vet was an ass not to update your dogs vaccines 2 months ago when they knew he was unvaccinated.

the unlikely hood of your husband getting a disease from your dog is little to none depending on his enviormental status (ie-if he plays with rabid raccoons etc)

What probably happed was that Spencer did not feel like playing that day or he did a play bite and did not realize what he did. You have to think back and see if he growled than bit. MOST to all dogs give a warning before biting.

Take him to the vet for a full exam and speak to them about behavior. In the meantime, no more talking to Spencer in his face like that until you get to the bottom on the situation. ALSO do not ignore the dog, they tend to forget what they did minutes after the fact.
