puffy ears

Dear Dr.

All of the sudden, my boxers ears became swollen and even though she always seems warm, I think she has a temperature. She is also acting a bit strange.

Answer
If the ears are just puffy, but not ballooning out, that could be an allergic reaction.  If they are ballooning out and seem to have fluid in them, that is an aural hematoma, which requires surgery.  You should take the dog to the vet to see if there is a problem.
